Copolymer of lactide and glycolide coated with polyglactin 370, calcium stearate and monofilament.

Tensile strength retention in vivo;

Approx 75% remains at 2 weeks, approx 50% at 3 weeks,

approx 25% remains at 4 weeks

Absorption Rate;

Minimal until about 40th day. Essentially complete

between 56-70 days, absorbed by slow hydrolysis

Coated VICRYL Suture is a synthetic absorbable sterile surgical suture composed of a copolymer made from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. Coated VICRYL Suture is indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures, but not for use in cardiovascular and neurological tissues.
